Got more out of this road trip than I actually believed we would. It’s progress.

Fabbri continues to impress me. This might be the best trade this team has done in a long time.

I feel like the team needs to put the motto for the second line as “Get Him to the Greek.” A.A. is on fire.

Howard. Ugh.

Our defense was somewhat capable last night. Surprising.

Perlini is going to get a goal sooner rather than later. Another good trade as he’s just been snake bitten it looks like. He’s playing the right way.

I agree on all. My hesitation on trading A.A. is that his potential is huge. If it looks like a deal they can get done, he’s a player you want. My concern will always be his agent. That guy has caused more problems than he’s worth.

Our D is showing flashes. There are young guys on this team that can keep building and getting better. The West Coast trip was impressive, if only to see guys getting it going.

I think there were a lot of positives in that game, it seems like the 2nd line finally has been worked out and they are starting to score. Fabbri is no fluke at all, and i'm somewhat amazed after watching him, especially the Sharks game, come up with 3 fantastic scoring chances that all could have gone in, and assisting on a pair of goals, that we were able to land him for De La Rose, one for one. He's playing like a legitimate 50 point player, and a full season with him playing with AA and whoever at center, I can completely see it next season.

That was a fantastic move, and it's made a very noticeable impact on the team's offense. He plays smart, and he's capable of bursts of speed in a lot of situations. He's been fun to watch.

Moving AA really only makes sense if you’re getting a younger player with a high ceiling that has a chance of reaching that potential. They definitely shouldn’t move him just for the sake of moving him.

It has been a surprising turn around. Fabbri is a good character guy, didn’t seem to have any baggage, just needed a fresh start. Really happy to see him going so strong

I agree. The push to trade him echoes the cries of “Mantha is a bust” from a couple years ago. You will not get back what you lose with A.A. you can get something different, but there is no “pound for pound” trade you can make. It all boils down to the player’s willingness to stay and desire to get a contract done. Thankfully, Larkin has performed well at his number. If Mantha and A.A. will come close to that it could be a good thing for the Wings core.

AA hasn’t played with anyone that generates offense prior to Fabbri. He was seeing vet little PP time and doing it with the second unit that was feeding Hronek for the one or two opportunities that they got. He’s a talent that can’t be replaced on offense and it’s a mistake to try and trade him for anything less than another 24 and under 30 goal scorer.

I believe you are correct. If a trade comes, Yzerman will pull of something good.

The reason you consider to trade AA is his age and the fact he creates little to nothing for his teammates.

Not everyone is a Pavel, or Z, or even Larkin now. AA hasn’t played with anyone that can contribute in a consistent basis, unless you include Vanek or Nielsen for the last two. No different than a stay-at-home defensemen doesn’t provide offense, he won’t block shots or be a solid two-way player but I’ll take 30 and that speed anyday.

AA is probably the closest thing the Wings have to a pure goal scorer. And they sure as hell need one. He may not develop into an awesome two-way player at this point in his career, but I don't care. This team is starved for offense and having that type of elite skills is something legit playoff teams need to roll 4 lines and get deep into the playoffs. Trading him at this point would be premature and short-sighted. He's 25 and now in his prime... it's not like he's 34 and going downhill fast. He can still have some very productive years ahead of him.

I would argue that Mantha is more of a pure scorer. He has a much better shot, but A.A. creates really good opportunities for himself. I agree that if he wants to be in Detroit the team could certainly use him.
